New Business is Being Created

The historic green house across the alley to the south of Stitches & Scones is soon to be Crafty Capers. The house was built in the 1850's just like the building that is home to Stitches & Scones. It will be entirely devoted to youth interested in the fiber arts, books, and toys. We will have knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, needlepoint, rug hooking, and several other crafts.

We enjoy our teen staff and all of the many youth who come to join us in the fiber arts world. It is time for them to have a store with choices suited to their tastes. Classes taught by youth instructors and parties coordinated for groups will be available.

Several teen on staff are helping paint the inside of the building. My husband, Russell, recruited Cavan (age 4) to roll some of the walls on Sunday. He loved the orange color he was painting for the room for younger customers. The decor will be a combination of antiques and modern vintage themed pieces. We are anxious for the movie popcorn machine to be ready to give it away to visitors and eat some ourselves.

I am hoping Crafty Capers is an innovative concept that will be a big success. This is an opportunity for all of us to pass on these crafts to the next generation. Besides the fun of it all, these skills are good for the brain. We hope you will grab your grandchildren or children and bring them to the new store.

We will keep you updated on an opening date.
